Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the best-known and most popular type of massage therapy that combines a variety of techniques to target tissues and muscles for maximal pain relief, stress release and relaxation.  It can also help increase circulation and decrease inflammation and swelling. Massage therapy can also help reduce adhesions built up around scar tissue, so treatments after an injury or surgical procedure can be hugely beneficial to the appearance of the scar and surrounding areas. Prenatal massage can also be a great way to relax sore, strained muscles from the hormonal shifts that occur during pregnancy.  Massage is a great treatment for people of all ages and physical abilities.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Our lymphatic system is vital to our health and well-being. It prevents edema (swelling), assists with fat and vitamin absorption, and acts as a surveillance system for our body to recognize and respond to foreign cells etc.

As with other systems, it ages and can become less efficient - which we can feel and sometimes see with lowered immune response, swollen regions of the body, and maybe even sluggish digestion. Post-op trauma or injury can also lead to swelling that doesn't seem to shift and can result in a host of other problems. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a structured treatment protocol involving various sequences that can target the system and help to improve overall functioning. Pressure is extremely light as the vessels are very superficial to the skin, the rhythmical pumping action provides a soothing mechanical effect that enhances fluid movement and activates the nodes to do their job.

The 45-minute session is great for the treatment of 1-2 specific regions, the 60 is best for a more full systemic approach.
